Picky Eating & Mealtime Support Nutrition Counselling with a Registered Dietitian | Ontario & Nova Scotia
Picky eating is exhausting. You don't have to figure it out alone.
If mealtimes in your house involve negotiating, wasted food, short order cooking, and a growing sense of dread, you’re not alone and you’re not failing. Picky eating is one of the most common concerns parents bring to a dietitian, and it’s one of the most misunderstood. We help you understand what’s driving your child’s food behaviours, make sure their nutritional needs are actually being met, and give you practical tools to make mealtimes calmer, more enjoyable, and less stressful for everyone at the table.

How Bloom Nutrition Supports Families Navigating Picky Eating
Less pressure at the table. More connection around it.
Our Approach
Picky eating is rarely just about food.
Selective eating in children is influenced by development, sensory preferences, temperament, and the dynamics around mealtimes. We get to know your child and your family: their health history, eating patterns, developmental stage, and your daily routine. From there we build a realistic, personalized plan that addresses the nutritional gaps, reduces mealtime tension, and gives both you and your child a better experience around food. No shame, no pressure, and no one-size-fits-all protocols.
What to Expect
We start by getting to know your child, your family, and your goals.
Every session is built around what your family needs most. Depending on your situation, that might look like:

- Practical strategies to expand food variety without pressure or power struggles
- A clear breakdown of roles and responsibilities for parents and children at mealtimes
- Tips to make mealtimes enjoyable and to engage your child with food in a positive way
- Snack and meal ideas that work for a picky eater and the whole family
- Ways to habit stack nutrition into a busy parent routine
